I really wouldn't be surprised if ValVE soon released some sort of bundle of Sources and sold it to the public. A working and decent version of Source - that could be modified to worrying amounts by gooseman and his peasants until the next big tournament, DoD: Source and TFC: Source.
I saw Valves announcement about what is to come for Steam, and no utterance was there about Source updates. Tournaments like WCG/CPL have to know and be speaking to the developers about updates if they are to have any real respect from the community about these decisions.
As for the games that have been included, probably should sub out some of the RTSs - its a much smaller genre and thus really shouldn't be outweighing the over growing community around FPSs. Ut shouldn't have been removed.
