Semis - coL > Catch, wNv > Hacker
The final playday of the group stages finished earlier today, where we saw SK Sweden beat the 4Kings team, and Virtus.pro win over Team NoA. Virtus.pro were not able to win by a big enough margin to be able to advance to the next stages, and thus have been knocked out of the competition along with the other eliminated teams - NoA, SK and 4Kings. For the remaining four teams, the $70,000 first place prize is still in sight. The semi finals will take place tomorrow (Sunday) where we'll be seeing an Asian clash (a re-match of last season's grand final) between wNv and Hacker.Project, and a battle of two great forces with compLexity playing Catch-Gamer. Hacker.Project narrowly made past the group stages, but have shown that they're still not to be reckoned with after beating compLexity 2:1 on Thursday. Although the Korean team lost on de_dust2 against the American's, they showed that dust2 is not the only map they're good on - beating coL 16:14 on de_train, and 16:08 on de_inferno. The wNv team are definitely a strong team, but unlike last season they have actually lost a few maps during the group stages - which could give the Hacker.Project guys a lot more motivation when going into this game. The match is scheduled to begin at 07:00 CET tomorrow (Sunday), and is set to be a great game! Good luck guys! The second semi-final which will be played tomorrow is between America's number one - compLexity, and Norway's top team Catch-Gamer. Both have showed immense skill so far in the tournament, and this match will definitely bring out some more of that. Both teams have lost one match in the recent group stages, so they are certainly not unbeatable. It's probably going to be an extremely close game right throughout, but nevertheless may the best team win! It is scheduled to start shortly after the wNv vs Hacker.Project game tomorrow. Good luck to all teams playing in the semi-finals! *Update* The maps for both of the semi-final matches have now been announced, and can be found below in with the match information. *Update* The www.esport.org website is down again, but www.weglive.com have written a guide which will allow you to watch the English esport.org stream through Windows Media Player. The guide can be found here. Video Streams There are a number of free streams that will broadcast the WEG matches live. Most of them however will have foreign (Chinese or Korean) shoutcasters, the only exception being www.esport.org - which is shoutcasted in English. A list of all streams can be found in this forum thread. But it is recommended that www.esport.org is used. Scorebots As you probably know there is no HLTV for the WEG events. The only two forms of live coverage we can use are streams, and scorebots. The scorebot channel on the QuakeNet IRC network is #weg.live - which will usually provide live scores for all WEG CS matches. Final Standings 01. TBD - $70,000 02. TBD - $20,000 03. TBD - $8,000 04. TBD - $4,000 5-8. Virtus.pro - $2,000 5-8. SK Gaming - $2,000 5-8. 4Kings - $2,000 5-8. Team NoA - $2,000 Grand Final (Tuesday 2nd May - 09:00 CET) wNv vs compLexity Third Place Decider (Tuesday 2nd May - 07:00 CET) Hacker.Project vs Catch-Gamer

PD: go compLexity!
and believe me we will have the same hilarious picture like every year
first: right before the tournament there will be new ridiculous gotfrag rankings with at least 5 american teams in the top10
second: all but one american underdog and most likely coL/3D will advance to a point where they could hit top10 then they will get screwd over by an european team like fnatic/nip/sk/catch/mouz/noa/someotherteamsIforgot
third: there will be new gotfrag rankings without noobs until the next big tournament where the patriotism takes the best of midway and he sets up the american cs teams once again to supposibly be the top10 in the world
fourth: europe will have a good laugh once again claim CPL ESWC(well 2005 europe was a bit shaken up with all the transfers going on)
anyways US cs > europe ? lol US had always ONE team that by chance happens to win occasionally
however they also lose tournaments like CPL spain to mouz who imo are definately not top in europe
europe on the other side has at least 5 teams where noone could venture a guess who will win
stop being stupid
NoA : 0/6 - 2000 $
wtf ...
they are the best german team (they won eps to prove that..) and even if they havent won anything big for a while, i still say they are top10 in europe at least.. :/
but all the top teams could win vs anyone on a good day.. :/
its just a question of which direction the wind is blowing :)..
#110 also.. it doesnt mean that the number one ranked clan is really the best and no one can beat them :/.. the rankings tbh just show who has won the most (ofocurse big tournaments are bigger deals then backyardlan#10etc..)
What ever it has been previously = wNv is the WORLD NUMBER #1!
i thought col-wnv would be the final, and it is :)
COL FTW !
they for example use cal-i as reference for world rankings which is imo not the best way to form a ranking
beside that I do agree with you :)
#110 uhm yea and you are a telepath or at least Freud's successor since you really seem to be gifted in revealing MY thoughts which is totally ridiculous
anyways I did not say much about the game at all and I really hope coL will manage to win since I found them to be a likeable team unlike #77 or #123 whos main goal in life seems to be posting garbage
