euro just announced that they are going to hold a DOOM 3 2 versus 2 invitational tournament, starting next Wednesday.
8 teams are going to play for the honour on the internet and 7 spots are already filled:
rize: Xhep & Tybalt
Ironfist: Vorv & Sabotaj
fnatic: Gopher & Toxic
a-Losers.MSI: Crush3r & Slain3
e-star: Ztorm & Ezz
Tulls: Stermy & Booms
Digerati: Kuula & Razorbei (replacement for neonizz)
Team-Dignitas: dk & Fauler.
Team neonizz dropped from the tournament because they have not played 2vs2 so far, a real curious reason since most of the attending teams won't have played a lot 2vs2. They got replaced by unknown British duo Kuula and Razorbei.
The last spot has now been give to team-dignitas, who might be a contender for the top3.
Still the team which is in favour to win is fnatic with the two Q3 TDM legends and brothers, Gopher and Toxic. Even if they are not able to play together from one room on lan, as it was in the past, since Gopher is living in Scotland at the moment, they are the top contender when you look at the names. From Germany another brother team is coming, Crush3r and Slain3 who might be another contender for the final. The two Italian top players Booms and Stermy are the last team I would pick for the top contenders. Beside that a lof of known names are around like former PK players Xhep and Storm or former top Q3 TDM player Vorv. But their team mates are unknown so far so I refuse to pick them for a top spot.
The rules for this tournament are later to come this day but the maps will be The Edge 2 and the custom map z13dm3dm2. Each game will be best-of-three and 15 minutes per map.
This is the first European tournament that is not 1on1 and it will be nice to see how D3 works out in team with the maxium of players offered by the multiplayer.
