GOMTV to invest in Dota 2

ImageGOMTV is set to reveal a new venture into Dota 2, which is expected to be a weekly tournament for the fledgling Korean scene.

As of now, indicators are pointing to GOMTV beginning to invest in the Dota 2 scene by presenting a weekly tournament hosted in South Korea. Eight days ago, GOMTV gave out a hint with a teaser trailer to showcase the possibilities with their Gangnam studio. What viewers found the most compelling, however, was in addition to the typical StarCraft II and World of Tanks content, was that a portion of the imagery constituted the Dota 2 map. Today, on GOMTV's live stream, their intentions to invest in Dota 2 were made clearer with a promotional image with a caption that read, "Dota 2gether: It's going to be 3rd of April at 9:00pm Korean Time and every Wednesday following".

Some would gather that this timing is more than coincidental, as evidence collected and published by Matthew 'Cyborgmatt' Bailey reveals that Valve is in the process of implementing server support to South Korea. As this feature has yet to go public, it could be surmised that GOMTV has intimate knowledge about Valve's schedule and could have had fair notice for preparation. Another possibility presented that is equally reasonable is that GOMTV will take up a capacity similar to what they have with StarCraft II, in which they will have a broadcasting and distribution contract with Valve.

SK Gaming will keep readers posted for any new developments.
