The League Championship Series is back for another exciting week! After having a successful appearance at MLG Dallas, teams are ready to show the world once again why they are considered the best. For highlights, analysis, roster updates, picks, and bans, check out the article.Game 1:
Team Dignitas versus
MRN
Bans
Picks
Game one of the day featured Dignitas versus MRN. Knowing MRN's top laner MegaZero utilizes a relatively small Champion pool, Dignitas decided to target all their bans towards him. The action started out strong for Dignitas, feeding Scarra's Diana three kills. The laning phase was very rough for MRN; Dignitas was able to apply consistent pressure, while methodically taking advantages. In a team fight near Dragon, Dignitas collapsed onto MRN, while seeing Jarvan IV farming mid lane. They would pick up a 4 for 2 trade and begin to snowball. MRN kept it relatively close by securing two Dragons, however failed to succeed in team-fights. This may have been because of Putoy, who itemized with Ability Power and gave Dignitas another outlet for damage.
Even though MRN would be able to stall the game, and allow Kog'Maw to become scary, Dignitas would eventually secure Baron and catch MRN out of position multiple times. With super-minions flooding into the base, Dignitas collapsed onto MRN in a 5v5 battle and took down the Nexus.
Winner:
MRN
Game 2:
Team SoloMid versus
compLexity Gaming
Bans
Picks
Game two featured TSM versus coL. TSM had declared they would substitute Chaox with WildTurtle in bottom lane. It turned out to be a good decision, because TSM's WildTurtle would be absolutely dominant. The action started with a level 1 invade from TSM, who picked up first blood onto Lulu. The kills continued to flow early, with successful ganks at mid lane and bottom lane for both teams.
TSM chose not to ban Nickwu's Zed and paid for it. In a 1v2 battle under TSM's bottom lane turret, Zed was able to secure a kill onto Caitlyn. He would then pick up a triple kill and help his team for an Ace near Baron Nashor, in a 5 for 2 trade.
Nevertheless, TSM would not give up, and after losing Baron buff, would charge coL's base and take down two inhibitors. The game would remain ridiculously close in gold and in kills, and it was anyone’s game. Then the WildTurtle rampage was unleashed. In a 5v5 team fight at bottom lane, the substitute would pick up a triple kill against coL,who were trying to kite backwards. That battle was well chosen from TSM because even though coL had Baron buff, the majority of their teams Ultimate’s were still on cooldown. Finally, in a heads-up 5v5 team-fight again at bottom lane, WildTurtle would capitalize on an amazing Crescendo from Sona, and pick up the PENTAKILL, and the win.
Winner:
Team SoloMid
Game 3:
Counter Logic Gaming versus
Team Dignitas
Bans
Picks
Game three of the night featured Counter Logic Gaming versus Dignitas. This game was completely one sided. Dignitas had found a way to snowball all their lanes, and bully their opponents in every team-fight. First off, Caitlyn itemized with Red Elixer, and 6 Health Pots. This allowed Dignitas to secure the early 4v3 battle when both Orianna and Nasus came to gank bottom lane. Volibear's passive and impressive throws were too strong for CLG to handle, and DIG would pick up a 3 for the price of 1. This early advantage allowed DIG to dominate the game. They forcefully took down objectives and continuously split-pushed to take inhibitor turrets. DIG strategically positioned their fights and made it look easy at times engaging onto a team with little retaliation pressure. In a last stand battle after securing Baron, DIG crushed through CLG in a final team-fight and take their second win of the day.
Winner:
Team Dignitas
Game 4:
Team SoloMid versus
MRN
Bans
Picks
The last game of the day featured a newly constructed team MRN versus TSM who had already won their earlier match against compLexity. After a failed invade, TSM found themselves getting caught on the back end forfeiting first blood from a kill onto Malphite. In response, thanks to a well placed ward at Golem Camp, TSM's bottom lane was able to invade MRN's jungle and swipe blue buff from Karthus. After a Gold Card stun onto Sona, Draven would throw his ultimate and snipe her for the kill. MRN's was pushing hard down mid with a camped Nocturn, however Nasus's ability to clear minion waves prevented any early game strategy that MRN had planned. Even though, ClakeyD was dominant in the opposing Jungle, Twisted Fate was able to sustain his mana reserves with his Blue Card all game.
In a 5v5 fight at mid, TSM would out-position MRN and secure a 3 for 0 trade thanks to Draven's bait. Even though MRN would be winning in creep-score for the majority of the game, TSM would answer with numerous team-fight wins. TSM would then take Baron buff and catch a fleeing Sona out of position. MRN fell apart in the later stages of the match, and got caught out one by one until, TSM finally grabbed Baron for the second time, and drive in for the win.
