The developer issued a temporary punishment for a number of North American and European players who were illegally boosting accountsTwo red posts surfaced on the official League of Legends forum today, bearing an LCS Competition Ruling. Both introduced the fact that Riot had been investigating certain players for some time. Thoroughly and in great depth, the statements defined the offense "ELO boosting" and gave reference to the Summoner's Code where this activity is deemed illegal.
The conclusion was to give a 14 day suspension of account, effective immediately to NA and EU players found guilty of boosting other accounts. The punishment is the same for everyone as whether or not players received any monetary reward or otherwise was not taken into consideration. The post highlighted that this is a final warning to the certain group of boosters and any further breach of rules will result in a permanent account ban and depending on the offense, there may be a LCS penalty.
List of players on the NA server who received a final warning:
Brandon 'DontMashme' Phan / Good Game University
Zaqueri 'Aphromoo' Black / Counter Logic Gaming
Samuel 'Chuuper' Chu / compLexity Gaming
William "Meteos" Hartman / compLexity Gaming
Chenglong 'Nyjacky' Wang / Team Curse
Keith "Phranq" Hunter / compLexity Gaming (Coach)
Keenan 'Rhux' Santos / Team Curse
Jake 'xmithie' Puchero / Vulcun
List of players on the EU server who received a final warning:
Viktor 'cowTard' Stymne / Copenhagen Wolves
Yon 'jimbownz' Mangas Cayetano / Giants
Dan 'GodBro' Van Vo / Copenhagen Wolves
Rim 'Nono' Amanieu / against All authority
Jérémy 'Virtu4l' Petit / against All authority
Bora 'YellOwStaR' Kim / fnatic
The actions of Riot were warmly welcomed by the community as pro players must also follow the Summoner's Code. We simply hope that no more suspensions, punishments or bans take place.
