IEM WC: Group B Recap

ImageEven more surprising results, new upsets and the Korean dominance we have seen so many times before - all in the second day of the IEM World Championship!

We had a long day of intense games between the teams from Group B.

Group B:

The first game of the day was between the two Korean teams who would later top the group both going 4-1. Because in that particular match though SKT1 managed to take the win over Frost, they got the #1 spot and will play directly in the semifinals.

The only team that took a win off SKT1 was the surprise of the day Anexis, who no one expected to see in the playoffs but that's where they are. With a 3-2 score after securing games against SK Gaming and MYM, the Polish team is the second European team that's not participating in the LCS but qualified for the quarterfinals in the IEM World Championship.

Talking about LCS, both SK and EG are out of the tournament following Fnatic's footsteps from yesterday. It seems the Super Week took its toll on these teams and they didn't live up to the expectations of the fans.

The last team in the group, Polish squad MYM didn't perform well either despite participating in every IEM event this season. They only managed to upset EG in their first match of the day and will have to watch the rest of the tournament from the sides.

Tomorrow the games continue with the quarter-finals and the first semifinal:

CJ Frost vs Millenium - 9:30 CET
CJ Blaze vs Anexis - 12:15 CET
Gambit Gaming vs Frost/Millenium - 15:00 CET
