*Update* IPL 6 to be cancelled

ImageNot long ago it was announced that the new owner of IGN, Ziff Davis, was going to sell IPL. Although things didn't look too bad for IPL at first with interested parties already in contact with Ziff Davis it is now pretty much considered a fact that IPL 6 will be cancelled or at least postponed.

UPDATE: IGN just confirmed the rumours that IPL 6 is cancelled. More information and the official statement can be found here.

So far IPL and IGN have not made statements of their own concerning this matter but the Korean League of Legends qualifiers have been cancelled and eSports experts like SirScoots have already publicly predicted that IPL 6 will most likely be postponed.

Now teams all around the globe have to face the fact that they might not get refunds for the flight tickets of the players they intended to send into the open bracket. Some, like Axiom's manager Totalbiscuit, have booked with airlines that give partial refunds so they will not suffer quite as much but for other big teams this will probably mean a big cut in their budget. Players that were already qualified are not affected because their trips would have been paid by IPL but it remains to be seen how far the consequences of IPL's postponement will extend.

I hope IGN or IPL will soon release a statement as well to clear up the rumours but as of now it is unsure how, if or when IPL 6 will take place.
