With the World Championship of the IEM season 2012 - 2013 only about two weeks ahead, it was about time to get some more information. The final groups and some more information have been released. It is no surprise that the Zerg race is, once again, represented most among the 24 players, while the Terran race got only a few players in this event. As the season was taking place all over the world, players were able to qualify for the WC, which will start in about two weeks.
As the groups have been drawn, first thoughts and tips about the advancing players can be made. At least the groups seem fairly balanced as each race can be found in each group. Four groups with six players each can be found for the final event of the season. The first three of each group will advance, with the first place of each group directly qualified for the quarter-final matches.
As a few of the players are still in Code S of the GSL (Symbol, PartinG and MC), there is still the possibility for new players to get into the groups. If any of the players can not partcipate, the next one in the ranking will fill the empty spot.
Group A presents some of the most exceptional Protoss players in the world, as
Dennis 'HasuObs' Schneider, multiple champion
Lee-Sak 'PartinG' Won and
Choi Yong 'YongHwa' Hwa will try their best to advance.
Skill and success can also be found in group B, as the reigning champion and former GSL champion
Min Chul 'MC' Jang will try to keep his title. The champion of the last IEM in Katowice,
Kang 'First' Hyun Woo and the Terran hope
Mihail 'Kas' Hayda will try to do their best to have a chance of advancing as well.
National and international successful players, such as
Giacomo 'Socke' Thüs,
Grzegorz 'MaNa' Komincz and
Jens 'Snute' Waller Aasgaard will try their best in group C to take some spots for the playoffs from the Koreans in their group.
One of the best Terran players if not the best Terran player,
Jong Hyeon 'MVP' Jung will try his best to defeat his opponents, which will not be easy due to other good Koreans and
Ilyes 'Stephano' Satouri in his group.
For detailed group overview, check the official news.
The price pool of $ 250.000 overall will be more than enough to motivate the players to show their absolute best at IEM WC in Hannover, Germany, which will be held at CeBIT, March 5th to 9th, once again.
