wNv are Season 3 Champions!
After eight weeks of amazing matches between twelve stating teams in the Counter-Strike tournament at the World E-Sports Games, we've now eventually arrived at the final weekend of the tournament - the Grand Finals. The four teams left in the tournament - wNv and Project_kr (the two grand finalists) and team9 and NiP (the two third place decider's), will have arrived in Beijing, China sometime last week, preparing to battle it out in what will be the very last Counter-Strike matches of the third season of WEG. All four teams have done extremely well to get this far in the tournament, but of course the two finalists - wNv and Project_kr have obviously managed to beat off all opponents to get to the grand final. The wNv team will probably be the favourites going into the final, as they still stand undefeated throughout the tournament - without losing a single match or map, including beating Project_kr 16:10 in Playday 9. Project_kr on the other hand have had quite a tough road to the final - only narrowly getting through both group stages. This is the first time that the grand final of WEG has not been an all-European final, and this time there's not even one European team in it - it's an all-Asian final. It will definitely be extremely tense and exciting; we wish the best of luck to both teams! The match should begin at around 10:00 CET on Sunday, all information can be found below. There is also the third place decider match that will be played this weekend - this is between team9 and NiP. Again, both teams have done extremely well to get this far in the tournament - though after their defeats against wNv and Project_kr in the last playday, they will now obviously only be able to gain a third or fourth place in the tournament. These two teams are some of Europe's best - with five skilful and talented players in each team. Last time they met in WEG was in Playday 9, where we saw NiP beat team9 by a score of 16:09. This match should be just as exciting and action packed as the grand final, it is scheduled to begin at around 10:00 CET on Saturday morning. We wish the best of luck to both teams! *Update* Both matches will now be played on Sunday, instead of the third place decider match being played on Saturday. You can find the fixtures below.
