*** This only affects Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. ***
We've updated the public security modules again. Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically.
The updated security modules have several new cheat detections and a change in our banning policy. When the security modules detect a possible RAM/hardware error on the client's machine, the client will be dropped from the server and will see a message about "memory corruption". The client will NOT be banned from secure servers by VAC. They will only be dropped from the server they were playing on.
This change only applies to possible RAM/hardware errors. We will still be banning clients for more serious cheat detections.
Let me know if you have any problems with the security modules and we'll look into them right away. Thanks.

Valve
---------------------
After this release, Valve began getting numerous complaints and messages about the software from players saying their servers were malfunctioning. From servers being unable to update and seizing, to people not being able to connect or administrate their servers.

We've had some reports of problems with the security modules, so we're
reverting them while we investigate.
