MLG Dallas 2013 without Open Bracket

ImageMajor League Gaming co-founder Sundance DiGiovanni tweeted that there will be no Open Bracket at MLG but he also announced a yet unknown substitute.

So far the participants of MLG events always consisted of seeds, invites and the players who made it through the Open Bracket. Now co-founder Sundance DiGiovanni has announced that MLG Dallas 2013 will not have an Open Bracket but something else instead. Appearently they have not yet entirely figured out what they want to do or how they want to realise their plans so further details are to follow, very much to the discomfort of some players.

US Marc-Olivier 'desRow' Proulx already answered to DiGiovanni's tweet inquiring further information because he had made plans to compete in next MLG's open bracket and therefore booked a flight which he might have to cancel now. This could also be the case for other players so hopefully MLG's management makes the final announcement rather sooner than later.

What kind of substitute there will be remains to be seen. Possibilities would be more invites, bigger invite qualifier(s) or more seeds from past MLGs. At least that is all I can come up with but maybe they have something entirely new in mind. Any ideas what they could be planning?
