Rekkles moves onto the Fnatic Academy
The talented swede will take a step back and form an academy team that can compete in non-Riot events.
Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson exploded onto the scene with his performances for
fnatic . The team excelled in recent tournaments as they finished top2 at
IEM Cologne,
IGN Pro League 5,
THOR Open 2012 and
DreamHack Winter 2012, winning the latter two.
Unfortunately, due to his tender age of 16, Martin is not eligible to compete in Riot events. US laws have a solid rule that minors can be employed once they are 17 or over. Despite this, the swede decided to stay in Fnatic and help them build a squad whose purpose will be to dominate non-Riot events.
A statement from
Harry Widget, Fnatic's League of Legends manager:

Rekkles himself also had something to say:

A statement from
"Our one wish to Santa was for Riot to allow Rekkles to play with us in Season 3, unfortunately they stuck to their guns and continue to forbid players under 17 to play, which I understand. This leaves us having to give a tearful goodbye to Rekkles from the main Fnatic squad. However he isn't going anywhere. Martin will stay within Fnatic to form an amateur team in 2013. Next year Fnatic aim to continue their recent success, without Rekkles. We have had a fantastic time with him and he has been nothing but perfect for the team. He helped put us back on the map and we are now motivated for 2013."

"It's with great sadness that I will be leaving the Fnatic professional roster. After months of discussion between us and riot we couldn't find a way for me to play in RIOT events in season 3.
I wish my team goodluck in the future and hope they carry on performing well in season 3 qualifiers. However I won't be leaving the organisation. I will be creating an academy team with the help of Fnatic for 2013 and will return stronger than ever!"
