In an astounding move, Team Liquid has branched out beyond StarCraft II and has recruited a North American Dota 2 team.In a major move for the electronic sports scene, the figurehead of the StarCraft scene, Team Liquid, has recruited a Dota 2 team. This North American squad, comprised of former
compLexity Gaming players, will be kicking off Liquid's first competitive presence in the Dota scene. Above all else, this marks the first time in the history of esports that Liquid has ventured beyond its self-made domination in the StarCraft scene that began with CEO and owner
Victor 'Nazgul' Goossens over twelve years ago.
The development of the Dota contingency has been a long work in progress for Liquid. The first official public demonstration of good will to the scene began in August of this year, when Nazgul announced that the Team Liquid website would be providing coverage. Sure enough, Liquid was present on-scene at The International 2012 with press coverage. However, Nazgul emphasized that the organization would take its time in approaching the Dota 2 scene, as the game is still in its testing phase and overzealous actions by organizations can nurture instability.
Liquid has been in extensive talks with the North American players, with Nazgul evaluating the feasibility of the strategies, composition and overall likelihood of positive performances. The team is comprised of the three core coL players-
Brian 'FLUFF' Lee,
Tyler 'TC' Cook and
Michael 'ixmike8' Ghannam. In addition, they are joined by the former
Evil Geniuses player,
Sam 'BuLba' Baird, as well as our former Heroes of Newerth star,
Steven 'Korok' Ashworth.
