$7,000 GO tourney in the IEM Poland

ImageYesterday the Electronic Sports League has announced that the Polish stop of the IEM will play host to a $7,000 Global Offensive tournament.

Finally comes the IEM with Global Offensive? At the moment only Starcraft II and League of Legends are the two official games on show at the IEM event, and it has now been announced that ESL Poland will run a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament featuring four teams. The Polish event on the IEM calendar is scheduled to take place from January 18th-20th in the city of Katowice inside Spodek, the country's biggest and most famous multipurpose arena complex.

There will be a total of three qualifiers for Polish teams, each one being played in a single-elimination format and rewarding the winner with a slot in the finals. The European qualifiers have been divided into two different stages. The first phase will consist of two minor tournaments with Single Elimination bracket system, from which 8 teams will be promoted to the second stage (4 teams from each tournament). Starting from there, Double Elimination will be played and the teams will fight for only 1 slot to the main event in Katowice.
