Sneak Peek of Nami, the Tidecaller

ImageMany players were very vocal about the need of a new support on the fields of League of Legends. Riot finally heard them and will release a new support - the mermaid Nami.

Here is a Sneak Peek of her abilities and her look:

Passive - When Nami's abilities hit allied champions they gain movement speed for a short duration.

Q - Hydro Blast - Sends a bubble into the air towards a targeted area. When it lands it deals magic damage to all enemies in the area of impact and encases them into bubbles. Enemies hit by the bubble are lifted into the air and stunned before being dropped to the ground.

W - Surging Tides - Unleashes Surging Tides that alternates between allied and enemy champions. On Ally Hit: Heals and will bounce to a nearby enemy champion. On Enemy Hit: Deals magic damage, and bounces to any nearby allied champions. Can only bounce to each target once, hits up to 3 targets.

E - Aqueous Empowerment - Empowers an allied champion, their basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and slow the target.

R - Tidal Wave - Summons a Tidal Wave outward from Nami's position. The Tidal Wave briefly knocks up enemies that it comes in contact with, slows and deals magic damage to them. The slow duration increases based on how far the Tidal Wave has traveled.

I think she brings all that a support needs into the lane - defensive and offensive abilities, good harass and buffs for the carry + heal. Her Q even stuns the enemy, which will allow the AD Carry to easily take the kill. Thanks to her E champions without a slow (and without the item Phage) will get more chances to kill their enemies. With her Q and R she is a CC monster so I guess she will be the new popular support, just like Blitzcrank and Zyra are now.

She will work pretty well with Caitlyn, Graves and Vayne, but probably not that well with Ashe as her slow buff will be useless. On the other side though the combination between Nami and AD carries who already got a slow/stun will be quite powerful. Imagine playing with Ashe on a lane - you use your Q to stun the enemies, while Ashe throws her ultimate and stuns them again, then you use your ultimate, knock your enemies up, while Ashe (or maybe your jungler) deal tons of damage.

Nami will definitely be a support, which should be played aggressively - harassing the enemy, denying their farm, and setting up the kills for your carry.
