Counter Logic Gaming has been under fire for being, for lack of a better word, past their prime. Some people would argue the tipping point would be with the removal of
Brandon 'Saintvicious' DiMarco from the jungle back in May. It was then they acquired their toplaner
Joe 'Voyboy' Esfahani, and their founder and former toplaner
George 'HotshotGG' Georgallidis became George of the Jungle.
After an unexpectedly strong showing from HotshotGG in the jungle, rumours abounded that CLG was back, ready to retake their place in the League of Legends scene as a top-tier team. However after some minimal success in Korea at Azubu the Champions Summer 2012 tournament, CLG left the public eye for the most part. They were only to re-emerge for the NA qualifiers and take 3rd, lower than what some had expected. After the world finals rolled around, it was clear that CLG was struggling.
This has now culminated in the benching of Voyboy and his subsequent departure from the team. As he has stated in his AMA:
Hotshot'Nidalee'GG will reclaim his place as toplaner for CLG.Prime, with
Steve 'Chauster' Chau moving into the jungle from support. Which left the question of who will play support, and it had an interesting answer.
Long time NA solo-queuer and former Azubu Frost AD carry
Choi 'Locodoco' Yoon-sub will be joining the team. After his departure from his previous team it was up in the air for a while whether he'd be making a return to professional LoL ever. Well, he's back, and has some pretty big shoes to fill. Good luck to CLG in Season 3!
