ImageFor the next 6 weeks, SMITE will continue their Path To 100K, a $100,000 tournament to celebrate the Official Release of SMITE. Teams have been competing since the beginning of the year, earning seed points for this exciting competition.

With the official release date looming in the near future, SMITE is seeing rapid growth. There is already a very active competitive scene, and it only seems to be expanding. Two of the biggest names in eSports, Cloud 9 Hyper X and Team Solomid, have sponsored two of the top European teams creating even more buzz. With the announcement of the $100,000 invitational in March, people are even more excited.

It's an 8 week season, with teams earning varying amounts of seed points depending on where they placed in the Weekly Tournament. On February 22 (23 for the European Region) the points will be totaled, and the top four teams from each region will be selected to compete in a LAN event hosted in Atlanta, Georgia.

The tournament will feature a double elimination format and will pit both regions against each other in the ultimate battle for the world. For the first time, some of these teams will get the opportunity to go head to head, and test their mettle against the competition from across the pond. With the LAN setting eliminating any latency issues, this is a very exciting venture for all teams that consider themselves competitive.

The event is being held in front of a live audience at the W Atlanta - Midtown, and tickets are currently sold out. A second round of tickets was released that also sold out, so keep notice in the event that a third round go out.

SMITE officially releases on March 25, 2014.
