ImageCounter-Strike: Global Offensive comes into the EPS Germany. In Germany the title will be part of the ESL Pro Series Germany Winter 2012 and replaces Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike:Source.

A few hours ago the Electronic Sports League announced that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be part of the new ESL Pro Series 2012 for Germany. In winter 2012 CSS and CS will not be a part of the highest German division any more.

The decision comes as a little surprise: As of the coming EPS season there will only be a Counter Strike title in Germany's highest division now. With this step the ESL hopes to uniting and refreshment the split Counter-Strike scene.

In addition the EPS Product-Manager Bastian Veiser said that the decision of the complete change to CS:GO is a heavy but necessary step for the EPS German scene. He further says that the Counter-Strike scene with Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Streike: Source is estranged and split. He sees the chance with the new game here. In addition, he thinks that the scenes must unite to have a chance against League of Legends and Starcraft II.

Please write your opinion in the comments. Can CS:GO replace the two old titles? Is the step from the ESL too fast or exactly at the right time?
