After the success of the Charity tourney hosted by Link Gaming, other organizations started to think about hosting a charity tournament as well. One of them is Vanity Gaming. Some weeks ago, we've been posting about the Charity Cup hosted by Vanity. Last weekend the MW3 Charity Cup, which was organised in support of SickKids Foundation, took place. With over 50 teams participating, the interest in this event was very high. The cup was supported by Vanity's partners such as the European Gamers League, Evil Controllers and Site-Street, who financed the tournament with prices over £300.
Every team had to donate various amounts of money to enter the cup. Throughout the weekend over £160 was raised for the SickKids Foundation.
The cup started on Saturday with a group stage. Each team had to face 3 other teams in a best of 7 series. The spectators have been witnessing quite enthralling matches with some surprises in the early stage of the tournament. After this, the remaining 32 teams that had a shot at being crowned the champions of the event and taking away some great prices, were official.
Ghost Recon, Horizon.Josh, Phantom and RoyaL Boys reached the semi-finals, where Horizon.Josh won a close battle over their opponents RoyaL Boys with 3-2. In the second semi, Phantom defeated Ghost Recon with 3-2. In the end, Phantom had to face Horizon.Josh in a best of 7 series in the grand final. It was a very close match and Phantom had a really great start, managing to take the first two maps. But in the end Horizon.Josh had the determination to win and managed to secure 4 maps throughout the game.
