The groups and the full fixture list for the Dota 2 tournament at DreamHack Summer 2012 have been released with some last-minute surprises. After making its DreamHack debut in last year's winter edition, Dota 2 returns to Sweden with a €22,000 tournament in DreamHack Summer 2012. The event will be held in Jönköping between 16th and 19th June. Considered by many as the final rehearsal before the International, the LAN tournament promises to be nothing less than exciting.
The groups and schedule have been released as we witness some changes in the invite list.
Moscow Five announced earlier this week that they are unable to participate due to passport problems,
Copenhagen Wolves have recently announced their disbandment and
Virtus.pro declined their invite earlier today.
Infused Gaming and
The Tough Bananas have been invited to replace two of the teams as further information about the third vacant slot is yet to be released.
Darer have been in an inconsistent form recently, struggling to "find their game" with their new line-up. Nevertheless, captain
Ivan 'ArtStyle' Antonov has massive LAN experience which should be really benefical to the team.
Following
Mousesports' and
Keita's recent defeats at the International West Qualifier, both teams should stand back on their feet and prove that they are still capable of competing at top level.
The Tough Bananas might be considered as the underdogs but they have a lot of potential to upset some of the bigger names in this group.
A couple of months ago
AbsoluteLegends have been in a monstrous form, demolishing almost anyone who stood before them. However these days have come to an end and today the Australian side is just a glimmer of what it used to be.
Trong 'Snoopy' Truong and co. will have the opportunity to play for the first time without delay versus all top EU and US teams which is their golden chance to return to the top.
Both
Quantic and
Infused have recently suffered painful defeats at the International West Qualifier. Although they are going to miss the Seattle event, right now they have the opportunity to show what they are capable of by beating some of the top-tier teams.
Michael 'Mikey' Wunsch won't be able to attend the event and Quantic have recruited
Sebastian 'Matrim' Sundström as a stand-in. Matrim was part of
Wild Honey Badgers - the winners of DreamHack Winter 2011.
Na`Vi and
CLG are two of the few teams who show really stable form. Na`Vi recently had a minor setback after losing a couple of matches but now they seem to be back on the track.
CLG have been one of the most consistent EU teams, always considered as favourites. Their recent recruitments
Rasmus 'MiSeRy' Berth Filipsen and
Dominik 'Lacoste' Stipic have fitted perfectly in the line-up.
mTw will be attending this DreamHack as the successor of
Wild Honey Badgers - the winners of DreamHack Winter 2011. Captain
Troels 'syndereN' Nielsen is the only one left from the original team as he struggled to recruit new teammates until April. Interesting fact is that
Calonne 'Funzii' Thibault,
Merloz 'Sockshka' Titouan and
Sébastien '7ckngMad' Debs who are now part of mTw, also attended DreamHack Winter 2011, claiming 4th place as
Team Shakira .
All-star team
EG have finally teamed up with their captain
Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Anderssen who was on a 2-month vacation. Reports say that the American team is practicing hard at their bootcamp in Copenhagen and they should definitely be considered as 1st place contenders.

WHB - the winners of DreamHack Winter 2011 Dota 2 tournament. Since then the team suffered a lot of changes as the captain syndereN (middle) is the only one left. Matrim (far left) will be playing as a stand-in for Quantic.
