Introduction to: the bottom lane
In this article I’ll cover warding, attack damage carries and supports synergies, runes and masteries, last hitting, summoner spells, items, and give you some tips that might come in helpful!
Introduction
Hello, once again I’m back with another article from my “Introduction to” series. This time I will do things a little bit different. The reason for that is that there are two champions in the bottom lane, the attack damage carry and a support. Instead of providing counters for each champion, I will provide bottom lane champions that synergize with each other. The introduction will basically be divided into two parts: supporting and carrying!
Bottom lane is completely different from the other two lanes in League of Legends. It’s one of the hardest lanes to gank because of all the wards supports provide. For that reason you’ll have to rely on you and your support’s individual skills instead of your jungler winning you the lane. Huge benefit when playing as an AD carry or a support is knowing how your lane partner plays. For that reason duo queue partners who have played many games with each other usually dominate the enemy bottom lane if the enemies aren’t duo queuing as well. So lets get down to business!
Warding
75 gold that saves your life again and again. Warding is one of the most important things a support has to do. In solo queue you don’t need that many wards to be completely safe from enemy ganks. However if you really want to have an impact on the game, you should also put some aggressive wards. Aggressive wards are always really situational and they depend on which side you are on. Some good aggressive ward spots are at: enemy blue golem buff (If you start on that side), red lizard buff (yet again, only put this ward early game if you actually started on the red buff side). There is a picture below with marked spots for wards.

1 – Ward I tend to place every game at least once. It gives you great vision of river and the exit of tri brush. This ward should protect you from majority of the ganks unless you are really overextended. Even if it does provide you some vision of Tri Brush exit, you can easily miss the jungler passing it and get ganked really fast. If your mid laner is losing really hard and you are getting counter jungled, you should consider switching this ward out for the #3 ward, or even better, place both of them!
2 – The dragon ward. This ward isn’t necessary 24/7 because it’s pretty obvious when the enemy goes to dragon, but you should always ward it if your bottom or mid towers are down. Not only does it gives you vision on how many enemies there are next to the dragon pit, but also makes it easier for your jungler to steal the dragon. It also provides you vision of the enemy blue exit, enemy can only gank you from tri brush or your lane brush this way.
3 – Gives you the vision of tri brush. Always ward this if your mid laner is losing terribly or your jungler is getting counter jungled quite hard. However, if you place only this ward, you won’t have any sight on your bottom brush. This leaves you vulnerable for river ganks.
4 – I've seen many people place this ward, and I'm unsure why to be honest. #1 ward seems to be far better than this one. Would only place this ward if I'm on the purple side and my enemy decided to push really hard. This is also a good place to put a vision ward. You can clear the #4 ward with it without your enemies noticing where you placed your pink ward.
5 – The ward at enemy blue buff. This is really great for contesting and especially smite stealing enemy blue buffs. You also have precise timer on enemy blue buff if you actually get a ward here. If you are on the purple side, you can ward enemy red buff instead.
6 – Protects you from all of the lane ganks they can throw at you. It’s useful for having vision of the enemy support as well. You should put down this ward if the lane isn’t pushed into either side.
7 – Makes you safe from lane ganks if the enemy decided to push your lane. It also gives you vision of the enemy support if they pushed the lane. Really good ward to have if the enemy support is someone like Alistar or Taric, who can just CC and get you killed in 1 combo.
