Among the World's Best | SK Gaming
Since its inception in 1997 SK Gaming has been home to some of the world's most elite gaming professionals. SK Gaming's League of Legends team has been no exception. Read on as we turn the spotlight toward this world class team!
SK Gaming has grown to become a legendary name in the arena of eSports. Their League of Legends division is no exception, consistently ranking alongside the world's most formidable teams.
SK Gaming is lead by
Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez Santiago who also fills the role as AP carry. His assertive and often times outright aggressive playstyle is what separates the team’s overall nature from the competitions'.
Long time
SK Gaming veterans
Adrian 'Candy Panda' Wübbelmann and
Patrick 'Nyph' Funke fill the roles of AD carry and support, respectively.
The team’s newest additions are
Filip 'Dedrayon' Romejko, as jungler, and
Kevin 'kev1n' Rubiszewski, playing solo top.

This newly formed team is well characterized by its bold plays, cool and controlled coordination, action, and fast paced tempo.
In this article I review the players' statistics as a basis for understanding the team individually and as a whole.
Team Leader:
Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez Santiago
O is for aggression. LOL WHUT?! Seriously, those Gunnar glasses you always see on him aren’t just there to reduce eye strain, they also let him see through the virtual blood splats on screen from all the enemy champions he’s cut down.
Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez Santiago is all about getting in your base and wrecking your *@%&! If you can remember the expression, “All your base are belong to us,” they were talking about him, they just didn’t know it yet.
As team leader for
SK Gaming ,
Ocelote represents the heart of the team. His style is all in. He prefers champions with high short-range mobility, like Kassadin and Ahri, and also does the best with them. Why? Because of their incredible dexterity. He can dart in, burst, and dash right back out or even better, onto the next target, all while staying out of the direct line of fire. These high burst, high maneuverability casters are exactly what
Ocelote needs to excel on Summoner’s Rift – making his average kill count the highest on the team!

Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez Santiago. Data valid as of 29/04/2012, courtesy of LOLKING and Riot Games.
n=129, n=115, and n=124 respectively.
Consequently then it’s no surprise that
Ocelote is focused down in team fights. If you look at his stats, you see that his average death count across all three of his most played champions are among the highest in the team. You can only get that kind of score through playing like a man and going balls deep.
That’s right, he’s not afraid to die because he knows he's taking someone down with him – and on his best champion, Kassadin, he’s just outright deadly. Taking advantage of that short-range blink, silence and nuke, he will punish the enemy team for even letting Kassadin into the game to begin with.
In Solo Queue, this aggressive style can sometimes be seen as reckless, especially when your fellow team mates aren’t on the same page and don’t follow up – but in a proper team setting, alongside the likes of
SR Kev1n and
Candy Panda,
Ocelote is at the driver’s seat of the deadly machine that is team
SK Gaming .

A quick note about the statistics:
All data was provided by LOLKING and Riot Games and is valid as of 29/04/2012.
I used the largest sample sizes possible with respect to each player’s individual role within the context of
SK Gaming . With that said, I am well aware of
Candy Panda’s Ashe and
Ocelote’s Morgana for example, but as per the aforementioned reasons you will not see them discussed here.
Finally, I am aware of the limitations of using Solo Queue data to model tournament level play, but still believe accurate predictions and general trends can be made from extrapolations using this data set.
LOL TOO MANY WORDS! JUST GET TO THE TEAM ALREADY!
