Items

As on every jungler and top laner, items are usually situational depending on what kind of team composition the enemy has. Never build a champion the same way every game. There’s basically a different build for every game. However I will provide a couple of items you should consider buying that generally work well with Hecarim.

Wriggle’s Lantern – Even after the life steal nerfs, Wriggle’s lantern is still a fairly strong early game item. It will give you some sustain in the jungle alongside good early game damage. Wriggle’s Lantern helps you clear camps really fast.

Trinity Force – I heard Phreak saying that you will deal tons of damage with it! But on a more serious note, you benefit from everything Trinity Force can offer you. Probably the best stat is the chance to slow your opponent whenever you hit him. Another great stat that it gives you is the 150% damage after using an ability, you can use this unique passive every time it’s off of its 2 second cooldown because you can use your Q every 2 seconds without any cooldown reduction.

Mercury’s Threads – Pretty obvious choice of boots for every jungler or top laner. Would only consider changing Merc Threads to Ninja Tabi if I know I’ll lose the lane or enemy is really AD orientated.

Frozen Heart – All stats aside mana are extremely useful. I would get this item every time the enemy runs bruiser top. With cooldown reduction from Frozen Heart, your Q, when stacked, has only 1.2 second cooldown.

Maw of Malmortius or Bloodthirster – Both give you decent amount of damage. I kind of prefer Malmortius over Bloodthirster because I feel like magic resist and that magic shield benefits you more than lifesteal does. Would get one of these items as my last item most of the time, maybe I would consider getting it earlier if team lacks damage (Like Urgot as AD carry).

Aegis of the Legion – Item orientated on helping your team. Great item on many junglers with the current meta. However before getting this item always ask your support if he’s not building it already, really popular item amongst supports as well.

Warmog’s Armor and Atma’s Impaler – These are two decent items on many top laners and some junglers. It provides you a lot of tankiness and damage, but building both costs quite a lot of gold. Why Warmog's over Frozen Mallet? Simple, because you already have Trinity Force. Trinity Force has Phage in its recipe, so does Frozen Mallet. Unique passives never stack, thus slows won’t stack onto each other as well!
