ImageRecently retired Patrik 'cArn' Sättermon has revealed all in a 17 minute long interview with HLTV.org, including his first thoughts of SK Gaming’s GeT_RiGhT.

SE Patrik 'cArn' Sättermon needs no introduction to anyone who has followed professional Counter-Strike for the past decade. After announcing his retirement, HLTV.org conducted a lengthy interview with the Swedish tactician in which he describes the retirement decision and his career up to the point where SE GuX joined fnatic.

The seventeen minute long video started off with Sättermon explaining that his decision to retire was made after DreamHack Winter 2011 where his team, SE fnatic , took gold. At this point, he explained that thoughts started to arise about how much longer CS 1.6 would carry on for in the professional world, as well as his own personal skill level. Motivation was also another key factor in his decision to retire, as he noted his motivation was gradually decreasing after having played international tournaments since 2002/2003.

ImageWhen the question about what’s in store for the future arose, SE cArn replied about his dedication to stay close to the game and stay close to the tournaments. Although his goal is to move away from playing CS competitively himself, he stated that he will always continue to play and watch the game he adores. Currently, e-Sports is still in sight for the Swede as he takes up a role in fnatic management and is currently living in Taipei with this job role. With his decision to retire, he also highlighted that he won’t rule out returning to professional gaming but also reinforced the difficulty players have in returning to the game after a long break due to constant changes in terms of tactics and gameplay.

Towards the end of the interview the conversation turned to his career and important memories. The Swedish star reminisced of the time he was a nervous 17 year old and explaining to his parents that he would have to miss school in order to travel to Greece to take part in the Cyber X Games qualifier, where the team managed to defeat Titans to gain their place at the Las Vegas Finals.

2007 was the year where cArn felt his individual talent stepped up after being awarded the second best player of the year behind PL neo. This was the year where SE Tentpole left fnatic to be replaced by Ins, who was then later replaced by SE GeT_RiGhT which cArn felt made one of the best teams in the world. He also felt that due to the addition of Get_RiGhT the team went from playing largely for fun to a more professional outlook.

To watch the video fully, head over to HLTV.org. The second instalment of the interview is scheduled to be released next week.
