SK Anti-Cheat
Long awaited and finally done - SK Gaming's own Anti-Cheat software. It has been a while now since we shut down our old Anti-Cheat software. Before and during that time Sebastian 'Seb' Andersson (Client) and Peter 'taylor' Krawietz (Server) have been working on our own Anti-Cheat software and so now we are happy to announce that it's finished and will keep our servers clean. This step opens up the opportunity of creating your own updates, providing compatibility to the recent operating systems and system configurations, as well as adding latest cheat definitions to our database by ourselves. SKAC is currently providing and supporting the following features and operating systems: Features: Capturing screenshots and upload those into our database Scanning your PC for cheats Enforcing 32 bit mode Operating systems: Windows XP Home and Professional with latest service packs Windows 2000 with latest service packs Windows x64 (experimental) To be able to improve SK Anti-Cheat and make all of our SK Insiders happy, we need all of you to test our new Anti-Cheat system as much as you can and provide us with feedback, so we are able to provide updates on SKAC. For this reason and as well for general comments, questions and suggestions, we have created an dedicated forum for SKAC, where you will be able to help us improve it. » SK Anti-Cheat Forum We have also prepared a small collection of FAQ, which will be updated regurarly. You can have a look at it by clicking here. How To: 1st) Specify a password in your profile settings tab. 2nd) Download, Extract & Install SKAC. 3rd) Open up SKAC and click Connect! 4th) Enter your username. 5th) Enter your password (specified in your settings) 6th) Click OK 7th) Authenticate and Enjoy! Furthermore we are providing you with different versions of SKAC, optimized for different CPU's, to provide you with the maximum feeling of comfort. More information about that can be obtained on the download page: » SK Anti-Cheat We hope you all will enjoy and like it and with your feedback, we will be able to improve and enhance more and more in this project! **Update:** After some testing of SKAC the first updates have been made and it's necessary for everybody to download the new version to be able to play on the servers. You will still find SKAC at SK Anti-Cheat
Q: Where can I get SKAC?
A: » SK Anti-Cheat
Q: What is SKAC and what does it do?
A: SKAC, short for SK-Gaming Anti-Cheat, is an anticheat system that was designed to protect the Insider servers from cheaters. During the time you spend on the Insider servers, SKAC will upload screenshots and scan your computer for known hacks.
Q: What happens when SKAC detects a hack?
A: SKAC will automatically kick and ban any players found using hacks on the server. Their Insider accounts will also be removed later by the Insider Director.
Q: My FPS occasionally drops when SKAC is running. What could it be?
A: That is SKAC capturing a screenshot and scanning your computer for hacks. Although the methods have been highly optimized, there is no guarantee that they won't cause your FPS to drop a bit. Try using the optimized version for your CPU (as described below) and see if it helps.
Q: Is SKAC free?
A: Yes, SKAC is free in terms of usage, if the conditions specified in LICENSE.TXT are met. SKAC is not, however, free as in "open-source" and never will be.
Q: I have a problem with SKAC, where can I ask for help?
A: Feel free to ask the SK admins for further assistance or just use our forum
Q: SKAC seems to be operating when not connected to an Insider server. Why?
A: The current version of SKAC does not check if you're playing on an Insider server or not, so make sure you either disconnect or close SKAC after you've played on an Insider server.
Q: I was unable to connect five times in a row, what should I do now?
A: As the message you received says: wait for ten minutes. SKAC will lock itself if you failed to login five times in a row, this to avoid any server flooding as if a malicious person would retry over and over. We apologize for the inconvenience and urge you to look up your details before retrying again.
Q: How does SKAC work internally?
A: For security reasons, we will not publish such information.
Q: While I was playing on an Insider server, the server showed a warning message about me using a potential hack. I am not a hacker! What is this?
A: SKAC will automatically notify other players on the server about what it understands to be a potential hack. This message can be used as a reference along with, perhaps, a demo if you're suspected by a group of others of hacking. This message is, however, only a warning and does nothing else than notify the other players on the server, and thus can be safely ignored.
Q: I got banned for hacking, but I was not hacking! What can I do?
A: SKAC is nearly foolproof in its scanning procedure, so if SKAC banned you for hacking it means you, either knowingly or unknowingly, ran a cheat while you were playing on an Insider server.
Q: I have constructive criticism, ideas, bugs/problems, complaints, questions or love letters to report, who should I talk to?
A: Sebastian "Seb" Andersson is the man in charge of the client software, SKAC Client. If you suspect the problem to be related to the server, SKAC Server, you should consult Peter "taylor" Krawietz for help.
Q: I have noticed you offer several versions of SKAC. Why?
A: SKAC is offered in different versions because each version is specially optimized for one or more CPUs. By choosing a version that supports your CPU, you may get a fair performance boost while running SKAC and playing on our Insider servers. This does not, however, mean that the blend (default) version isn't optimized, but rather that the specialized version may perform better. If you are unsure whether your CPU is supposed by the specialized version, either consult an SK-Gaming admin or Sebastian "Seb" Andersson for help.
Q: I think an Insider is cheating, but SKAC isn't detecting him. What should I do?
A: You should either contact an admin or record a demo while the Insider is playing. If SKAC issued a hack-warning message for that particular player, it could also be used as a reference when confronting him/her with the content you've come up with.
Q: My computer stopped working after using SKAC!
A: While this is rather unusual and never, in theory, should happen, SKAC or its authors are not in any way responsible for any damage SKAC caused to your computer, as described in LICENSE.TXT.
Q: Help! I'm on Windows 2000, and when I try to run SKAC, I get an error saying "cannot find gdiplus.dll". What should I do?
A: SKAC doesn't support Windows 2000 "out-of-the-box", so you will need to download a redistributable DLL from Microsoft in order for it to work. The downloaded DLL must be put in the same directory as SKAC, or else it will not run. Note: This ONLY applies to operating systems prior to Windows XP.

Q: I can't authenticate to SKAC. It keeps saying "Incorrect username and/or password." but I'm sure I've entered the correct details. What's going on here?
A: This shouldn't happen too often, but if it does, you need to relogin to your account on the SK-Gaming website and then retry. Also make sure to use the password specified in your settings tab (Profile -> Settings)
Q: I'm trying to authenticate to SKAC, but it won't let me. Why?
A: Make sure you're entering the password exclusive for SKAC specified in your accounts settings page on the SK-Gaming website.

Regarding your HDD statment, ofc it depends on your HDD perfornamce and number of programs running in the backround. But we are all assuming that you have HDD which fulfils minimal requirements, if not better. Now this also doesent mean that you have to have MONSTER of HDD, just a normal 7200rpm will do fine.
