Germany, Hamburg/Cologne, June 28, 2006 – One of the world's most successful electronic sport clans, SK-Gaming announces its partnership with AOL Germany as a main sponsor. With this new sponsorship AOL strengthens its overall engagement in gaming, while SK-Gaming adds another high-profile sponsor to its portfolio.
"We have always been aware that the groundwork for good preparation and a training environment is a reliable and speedy internet connection, especially before major tournaments. With AOL we are able to welcome a partner on board that offers more than we expected", explains Alexander T. Müller, Managing Director SK-Gaming. "In addition, the SK community will profit from this new partnership, as we will be able to offer brand new features on the official SK-Gaming website."
Marc-Nicolas Oerke, Director of Marketing and Communication of AOL Germany said: "Electronic sport is rapidly gaining acceptance and attention not only worldwide but also in Germany. Today's internet provides the environment for all gamers, regardless whether they compete on a professional level like SK-gaming players or for fun, to meet and play together. We are proud to support the world's best gamers and to develop interactive services for their fans."
Members of SK-Gaming compete worldwide at tournaments and rank among world's top players. SK-Gaming champion Daniel Schellhase, world champion in Electronic Arts' FIFA, played the Lanzelot 06 tournament by AOL in February 2006 as an unofficial competitor. While editors from all over Germany competed for the first ever German championship for IT-editors, the world champion gave away tricks for visitors and fans.
