SK.swe Goes to Australia and WEG

By Sebastian 'gosey' Selin
Feb 23, 2006 21:05

Almost a week ago we announced the absence of SK.swe in the upcoming WEG Masters 2006, though after further investigations we are happy to announce that the SK.swe team WILL participate in the WEG Masters 2006. The team captain Christian "vilden" Lidström has been recovering much faster than expected, which finally made this possible. SK.swe will be participating at the WEG Masters with the same lineup as always; ahl fisker Snajdan SpawN vilden SK will also be visiting Sydney, Australia for a promotional tour from 2nd to 8th March. Unfortunately vilden will not be able to come as he hasn't yet fully recovered from his surgery, though gosey will act as stand-in. The SK leaders bds and TheSlaSH will also be coming along on this trip. The main event will be the ATI Mania Day on March 3rd which will take place at the Fox Studios Australia, where the team will be playing various exhibition games, signing autographs and much more! Lots of media will of course be available from the trip, such as daily blogs from the players, aswell as daily updated picture galleries. An interview with Michael "ahl" Korduner about the upcoming events, can be found below.

How do you feel about finally being able to participate in WEG?
It feels great, we haven't been able to fit it on our schedule in the previous seasons, and now that vilden recovered so quickly i'm looking forward to participating. We have a big fan base in asia which makes it even more exciting.
What are your expectations going into this tournament?
I have high expectations, both in terms of results and the event itself. A top 3 finish is always acceptable, however we always aim for first place in any tournament.
What do you think about the other teams going there, any particular teams you want/do not want to face?
The best team from asia and the best team from the US will be there, so it's definitely going to be tough. I wouldn't mind facing any of those teams!
What do you think about these kind of events, all teams living together for a few weeks?
I do think the previous seasons of WEG have been a bit too long, but the idea itself with a league and matches every week is great. We all know eachother well so I don't think it's gonna be a problem living together.
How are you guys going to prepare for the event?
We are going to prepare in the usual way, with bootcamps at inferno online from time to time and just play alot. We will also make sure we practice hard between the matches at WEG.
How do you think the online games has affected you? Do you regret playing them at all?
No, the online matches before CPL was very good pratcice for us. However the ones after CPL hasn't gone the way we planned, but we will do our best in the remaining matches. LAN tournaments have always been our thing, we are not that good online.
You guys are going on PR-tour to Australia next week, what do you think about that?
It's going to be awesome, I have never been to Australia and im sure it's gonna be a great trip. I would also like to thank ATI for making all the arrangements.
What do you know about eSport in Australia, any special teams or players that you know of?
I know about fzero that we played a few years ago. It will be interesting to see how much the teams over there have improved, it's not often you get to play australian teams.
Any last comments?
Big thanks to our sponsors and fans, keep supporting us! And Sweden please bring the gold back home in the olympic hockey tournament.
