Fire in SK's Warcraft 3 Camp

SK Gaming has its roots in Germany and has traditionally done well in German Warcraft 3 leagues and tournaments. To further strenghten SK's position in Germany, Andrew "fire_de" Regendantz has joined the Warcraft 3 division. The 19-year-old is currently leading the ESL Pro Series (EPS) in Germany with a 7-1 record, and he has defeated well-known players such as DaviN, Spell and HasuObs with his Human alliance.

Before playing Warcraft 3, Andrew won 2003 WCG in Age of Mythology and he was one of Europe's best Age of Empire 2 players. However, after WCG there weren't any more AoM tournaments, and Andrew switched to Warcraft 3 instead. Ironically enough, it was an SK player that made him pick up Human. "I play the race because Insomnia won WCG 2003 with Human. And that was the first time I watched Warcraft 3," Andrew recalls.
While he lacks the major accomplishments so far, he has shown a lot of promise and he seems to be an up-and-coming player in Germany. This is why he, after going 5-0 in EPS, was contacted by Alexander "TheSlasH" Müller-Rodic of SK Gaming.
"I was very happy when he contacted me and said he was thinking about inviting me to SK. It wasn't sure or anything at the time, but he messaged me before my EPS game against HasuObs and said he would invite me if I won. I won 2-0," Andrew says.
He thinks his success in the EPS comes from a lot of training before the league started. "I was quite lucky, because my social work had just ended and I had two months free before my studies started. Also, I try to concentrate a lot more during and also before the games," the Human player explains.
The debut as SK wasn't perfect, though. Andrew lost 0-2 to Tak3r in his first match wearing the SK tag. "Err, Tak3r played very well and I played quite badly - no idea why, maybe because of pressure or nerves, or maybe I just had a bad day." His second match as SK went better, and Spell lost 0-2 to SK's newcomer.
"Andrew is the perfect adition to our ESL Pro Series lineup. He has proven to be strong and tonight, when I saw him playing Spell live on ESL TV, there was no doubt that he is to be mentioned among the German top WC3 players. We hope his development will carry on," is TheSlasH's opinion on the new recruit.
While Andrew will be a part of SK's main Warcraft 3 division, he will not represent the team in the WC3L at the time being. He will, like miou, focus on the German leagues and tournaments and in many ways be a "local" player for Germany. "I hope I can represent SK well in the most important German league, the EPS, and also play successfully in other upcoming tournaments," he says.
Andrew's goal is to become the best German Warcraft 3 player, and eventually also an internationally respected player. In SK, he should get quite some competition from his own teammates like miou, TaKe and the SK06 squad.
"I think SK has some quite strong German players. Miou is the best German player at the moment, and he wins nearly all big tournaments in Germany. TaKe is a very popular and liked player, but lacks tournament success lately, but he leads the SK06 team which has some strong players with a lot of ambitions. I think it is good competition to try and get better than your teammates, and I heard miou has become motivated again, too, because he wants to show that he is still the best player in Gemrany."
In the long run, Andrew wouldn't mind becoming a part of SK's international Warcraft 3 squad. "I would love to be a part of the WC3L squad, but I still need a lot of time until I am on the same skill level as Deadman, for example. Otherwise I think the WC3L team of SK is really good, and it will be a close fight between SK and 4K at the finals for the championship," he predicts.
SK Gaming welcomes Andrew to the team and hopes to see a lot from him in the time coming!
