The day started with a match between two American teams, Team Dignitas and Counter Logic Gaming . Group A went as expected according to our Group A preview, which you can read here. Team Dignitas will advance directly to the Semi-Finals, while Counter Logic Gaming and against All authority advance to the Quarter-Finals.

The two Americans team advance to the knockout stage with only one defeat, Team Dignitas losing to fnatic and Counter Logic Gaming to Team Dignitas . Nominated for the best 2011 team, fnatic is out of the tournament. After a silence week alike they did last year, everyone expected for a better performance in Hannover, but it didn't happen.

A week before the IEM start, ESL announced that against All authority would replace World Elite due Visa issues enabling the Chinese team arriving to Europe. The French team showed why they should be in this tournament passing the group stage with 2 defeats.

Surprisingly, Team ALTERNATE managed to get 6 points against fnatic and Millenium . Like against All authority , Team ALTERNATE came to Hannover for the same reason as them. In other hand, Millenium finished the day with 0 points losing to every team.



Tomorrow at 9:10 (CET time), Group B will start with a match between Team SoloMid and Team Curse . This last team has to play with stand-in because their top laner, Tom 'SYDTKO' Oh was stuck in a car accident while going to the airport.
