SK Gaming has managed to top their group at the IEM6 WC and therefore will advance straight into the semi-finals.First day at the IEM6 World Championship has concluded, seeing
SK Gaming come out on top followed by
Natus Vincere in second place and the Golden Poles
ESC Gaming in third.
The first match of the day saw the Swedes take on
Natus Vincere , possibly the most interesting match of the group where
SK made a commendable comeback. Being down 14-5 down in the second half, the Swedes made the comeback of the group winning 10 rounds consecutively largely due to the help of
Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund who contributed to many of the opening frags early in the rounds. With the score 14-15 in their favour, victory was snatched as their A site push didn’t go to plan because of great resistance by the Ukrainians, ending the match in a draw.

Anexis was the next opponent for SK on de_forge. Starting as terrorist, SK annihilated their opponent taking the first half 10-5 on the weaker side. Playing as CT, SK’s gameplay didn’t change with their latest addition
trace playing particularly well leading them to take their first win of the Group 16-6. Forge was once again played by SK as they had a face-off with
mousesports . This time around the Germans put up more of a fight on the map but still managed to come out of the match with a loss as SK proved to be too dominant, taking forge 16-12 in their favour and their second win of the group.
De_train was the fourth map for SK as they came head to head with one of the favourites of the group
ESC Gaming . Starting on the harder terrorist side, Dahlström marched his team to victory by gaining an unexpected yet satisfying 13-2 lead. Although the Golden Poles are not unknown for coming back terrorist side, they were unable to do so as they lost the fight 16-4.
SK Gaming have concluded the first day with four wins and one draw, earning them a direct spot in the semi-final. The second and third placed teams,
Na`Vi and
ESC will have to face the third and second placed teams from Group B which commences tomorrow.
