Natus Vincere's Arseniy 'ceh9' Trynozhenko sits down to talk about his feelings on the IEM6 GC Kiev qualifier and his views on CS:GO.Where did you feel you went wrong in the qualifier to come in seventh place for IEM6 GC Kiev and nearly miss out on the chance to attend? Do you feel that the way the qualification process was done had a big effect on the outcome?
I think we are not the only team in the world that hates online tournaments. It's very sad but Ukraine is a very big country and the ping to Germany is from 25 to 50, and very often there are some connection problems that we can’t fix. Another bad thing is that the ESL anti-cheat works properly sometimes, but every time someone from my team has some bug. All these factors led to failure on the internet. But we are really happy that God gave us one more chance and I hope we can make it! It will be great to win the first championship of the year and have a spot for the Extreme Masters Grand Final.
How much did Zeus becoming a father cause a change in the team?
Of course it made big changes. Now he has to think often about his child and wife, about money that he needs to earn every month. In 2010 he could concentrate 100% on CS, now real life has made some changes in his schedule. But it wasn’t a big deal for us, because everyone knows how important family is!

The first big tournament which Na'Vi won was the IEM Season IV World Championship; did you ever expect the team to continue with such great success after that first major win?
Of course not, we weren’t the only ones that didn't expect us to take first place. It was an awesome feeling! It was very good that we realized for ourselves that we can win in world-class tournaments. That tournament was a great start for Na`Vi.
At which point in your CS career did you get the most enjoyment out of CS? Is it all about the winning for you or are you most interested in enjoying the game?
Of course not, I think every person that is already 21-25 years realizes that you can't be fed only with enjoyment of the game. Of course we all love CS 1.6, but more than that we love winning tournaments and cash prizes xD
CS:GO is due to be released next year, can you see yourself swapping to the new game and playing it at the same professional level as you have with CS 1.6?
Nowadays I see only one way for us to play CS:GO - it is a tournament with major prizes. CS:GO isn't as good as we wanted. CS 1.6 has its own niche which CS:GO doesn't, and it can't compete with such games as Call of Duty or Battlefield.
Which match do you think has been the most interesting and memorable for you in 2011?
For me - e-Stars Seoul 2011, the match against
mTw on de_train. It was the last match between Na'Vi and mTw and we made an awesome comeback from a 3-12 deficit.
This year has seen a few professional players retire for good such as
dsn and
ave, do you think that this is overall giving the impression that CS 1.6 is dying and more professional players will call it a day this year? How much longer do you think the game will go on for at a professional level?
Hm, every year some of the professional players leave the stage. dsn and ave are old players and they didn't like to sit near a PC for 8-10 hours per day. Each of them played already about 7-8 years and they just needed a long vacation for few months, but when you play at such a level you can’t afford it, because other teams and players always work hard on their skills. So I don’t think it is about CS 1.6 dying.
Previously there were billboards in Kiev with your team on them, how does that make you feel when you see something like that? Are your family and friends excited when they see these kind of things and are they understanding of the game you play?
Yea, that's great! You feel that it's payment for all your efforts. And my family and friends understand me pretty well, because I am famous and I have my own money which I can spend as I want.
Towards the end of 2011 we saw some new teams becoming favourites such as
mousesports and
Lions, do you think that these teams will start to become your most feared opponents over teams such as SK and ESC?
Nowadays there are 5-6 teams that play on a pretty similar level. All of them are really good and each new tournament we have a new champion. I think it is a difference between today's CS and the CS that was a few years ago.
What do you feel was the biggest achievement for you in your CS career?
The IEM IV World Championship.
As we move into 2012, what's to come from Na’Vi in the New Year? Will you be practicing harder?
I hope that we will practice harder and will become the best team of this year! Big thanks to our sponsors SteelSeries, Kaspersky and Antec!
