It was always under doubt whether or not an Asian team would be able to find the funding for the event which led to ESL holding a seventh place qualifier just in case. ESL have now announced that they were unable to find an Asian representative for the tournament, which means the next in line in replacement was no other than Mousesports .

The team originally failed to qualify via the online qualifier. Although they seemed to be on a high after taking down Natus Vincere , the team then went on to lose to Moscow Five in the upper bracket, and then more losses against fnatic and WinFakt Fi in the lower bracket. Unfortunately for mouz, they will once again face all the opponents who originally had crushed their chances of qualifying directly, as they will meet them all once again in Group B.



It still isn’t clear whether or not the other speculated team Evil Geniuses will be able to attend the event, especially in consideration of their drop out from this season of ESEA after the loss of Paul 'pauLy' Guerboyan to Ultimax Gaming US. Should this be the case, the next in line to replace them will be Natus Vincere who won the seventh place decider against Anexis eSports (16-5 inferno).

IEM 6 Global Challenge Kiev will take place on January 19-22 at the CyberSports ARENA in Ukraine.
