The final stage of the IEM6 GC Kiev qualifier concluded this weekend seeing five European teams gain a spot for the championship, and now ESL have announced the groups.Stage 3 of the qualifying process for IEM6 Global Challenge finished this weekend, seeing five teams advance to the LAN finals which will be held in January 2012 to grab a slice of the $40.000 prize pot. ESL have now released the groups, seeing two groups featuring four teams in each. There is however still one slot remaining which will be for an Asian team. The groups will be played out in the normal format for IEM, seeing the top two teams advance to bo3 single elimination bracket.
Once again
fnatic and
WinFakt will face off again at the IEM GC tournament, where WinFakt will be surely looking for revenge after their loss to the Swedish side at IEM GC Guangzhou in the semi-final. Both teams, along with
SK,
Lions and
Moscow Five managed to qualify for the event through the European online qualifier, whereas
DTS earned their spot by defeating
Natus Vincere in the final of the Ukrainian qualifier.
Evil Geniuses won their place through the North American qualifier, however there is still on-going speculation on whether or not the American side will actually be able to afford to travel, along with the TBA Asian team, which may hand out two more slots to
Mousesports who placed sixth in the qualifier, or the winner of
Anexis vs.
Natus Vincere, still yet to be played being the seventh place decider.
IEM6 Global Challenge Kiev will take place on January 19-22 at the CyberSports ARENA in
Ukraine.
