Song Hyun 'HerO' Deok emerged from a full seven map final vs. fellow Korea Ho Joon 'PuMa' Lee to take the Dreamhack Winter 2011 title and $28,506. The Liquid Protoss went up 3:1 in the series but saw a comeback from his opponent to take the series to a single map decider, which he held on to win.



The tournament proved to be filled with surprises and upsets from start to finish. All three of EG's aces found themselves in a single Ro32 group, resulting in IdrA bowing out early. Elsewhere Stephano and ThorZaiN, SjoW, Happy, SeleCT, MaNa and Kas all found themselves on the outside looking in on the top 16.

One of the biggest surprises was Seiplo making the top 8, beating out HuK in the Ro16. NightEnD made it out of an all-Eastern-European group containing MaNa and Kas to make the playoffs, where he put together a run to make top 4. ToD impressed by progressing from a very dangerous group of White-Ra, Happy and SjoW.



HerO's form in the last half of 2011 has seen him take 6th at MLG Raleigh and reach the semi-finals of Dreamhack Valencia, but he struggled at IPL3 and in GSL Code A.
