mTw releases CS team

ImagemTw have released their CS team of ave, zonic, trace, minet and ArcadioN. zonic was interviewed about the announcement on their website.

The DK mTw team has been released by their organisation. The announcement was made officially today, after DK Danny 'zonic' Sørensen yesterday hinted on twitter that something important would be made public. Many had expected the dissolution of the team ever since DK Michael 'Friis' Jørgensen replacing DK Alexander 'ave' Holdt, following the tactician's retirement, went wrong and the team found themselves without a good fifth.

ave came back to stand-in for the IEM VI Global Challenge New York but things seemed grim since zonic suggested, via twitter, that his career may also end after the American event. With ave and zonic being the last two remaining members of the core which went back to the team joining the mTw organisation, and even back into their days as NoA in 2006.

The team's last event was IEM VI New York where they placed 3rd, using DK Nix0n in the group stage and then DK turkizh in the playoffs to replace the ill DK Oliver 'minet' Ari Minet.

zonic was interviewed on the mTw site and thought back on his career:

"Regarding events I must admit winning World Cyber Games in 2008 was the highlight of my career. Especially because of how we won it. I remember it was quite new when we pulled out scouts in the 3rd round in a Grand final and to then win the whole thing. Regarding events I remember ESWC for their huge crowd, World Cyber Games for actually thinking you are playing a star in the middle of a fairytale, and then to ESL for their professionalism and in my book the engine keeping 1.6 alive. These 3 tournaments are what define competition in Counter Strike."

On whether zonic will come back to play CS:GO or Source:

"It is a tough call. I don’t see myself playing any other than CS 1.6 - But I will continue working for mTw, since I feel this is my home now. Currently there are no offers for me, but I guess time will tell... I know a lot of people questioned my tweet: "It all ends in NY" - When I first wrote it, I actually decided to retire alongside ave, but I have had the time to think and I don’t really think I’m done yet. It was just a sad moment when mTw called it quits, and I’m just happy I didn’t come out in public with a retirement."
