Blizzcon Global Final's Details Revealed
With Blizzcon just around the corner, Blizzard has released the details for the Starcraft 2 competition portion of the convention.

With Blizzcon just around the corner, Blizzard has released the details for the Starcraft 2 competition portion of the convention.Over the course of this year Blizzard has done various global competitions around the world to find the best of the best. With the most talented of Europe, Asia, North America, and more flying over to Anaheim, California to compete with one another to see who will be crowned champion of Blizzcon 2011, it will surely be an exciting tournament for all the see.
The tournament will also feature a significant prize pool with the first place winner receiving $50,000, surely there is much on the line for the 16 qualified players. There will also be a significant casting presence with name-brand casters such as Sean 'Day[9]' Plott and his brother Nick 'Tasteless' Plott.

Blizzcon 2011 will be held from October 21 to October 22, and will feature some of the most talented players to ever grace Starcraft 2. The Global Starcraft 2 League will also hold its finals at Blizzcon 2011, making GSL October the first GSL to be hosted outside of Korea.

"Global Battle.net Invitational -- StarCraft II
The StarCraft II tournament format adheres to a standard setup. All sixteen players have been seeded into a double-elimination bracket, to compete in a series of best-of-three matches. The first player to win two games will take a series. If a player loses a match, they’re not out yet, they instead move to the consolation bracket, where they could potentially come back to win the entire tournament. If a player loses two matches they are out of the running for the finals. The map pool and prizes for the StarCraft II portion of the Global Battle.net Invitational is as follows:
Xel'Naga Caverns
Shakuras Plateau
The Shattered Temple
Antiga Shipyard
Abyssal Caverns
First place - $50,000
Second place - $25,000
Third place - $10,000
Two rotating teams of shoutcasters will bring you all of the action; Dan "Artosis" Stemkoski will be paired up with his hetero nerd life partner Nick "Tasteless" Plott, and Sean "Day[9]" Plott will dual-cast with JP McDaniel."
