HuK Crowned Champion of MLG Orlando!
The Canadian Protoss had an incredible run at MLG Orlando where he demolished his opponents and took home the crown. SK MC finished 2nd.
Chris 'HuK' Loranger, did extremely well all throughout the entire tournament. He not only took first in his Pool defeating many extremely talented players, such as
Sung-Jun 'July' Park,
Song Hyun 'HerO' Deok,
Min Chul 'MC' Jang,
Tyler 'Tyler' Wasieleski, and
Moon 'DdoRo' Jung Ho. He would go on to lose only one game to Liquid Protoss; HerO, and go on to the Upper Bracket where he took down two Korean powerhouses;
Jung-Hoon 'MarineKing' Lee and
Choi Yun 'TheStC' Sik. Eventually taking him to the grand final where he would take on his old teammate oGs. MC.
SK Gaming's
Min Chul 'MC' Jang went to MLG Orlando on a mission, and had done extremely well despite despite playing rather carelessly in his Pool. After battling a ridiculous amount of extremely talented players in the championship bracket, such as
Ho Joon 'PuMa' Lee,
Jung-Hoon 'MarineKing' Lee,
Gregory 'IdrA' Fields, and
Choi Yun 'TheStC' Sik he finally reached the grand finals to take on the Canadian Hope
Chris 'HuK' Loranger.
This would make MLG Orlando 2011 the first grand final to have a non-Korean vs a Korean as the final. This also meant that MC would take the Code S spot guaranteed by the MLG-GSL partnership established several months ago, effectively pushing MC from Code B all the way to Code S.
As the grand final began HuK already had a slight advantage over the Protoss President due to a previous engagement between the two where HuK won 2-1. HuK would go on to make the score 3-1 after a 4 gate duel between the two, where HuK's much superior micro combined with his unique Stalker control would push him over the top and give him the game.
In the final game possible for HuK to become champion of MLG Orlando, MC went for Dark Templars after a failed cannon build to create some pressure on HuK. However, HuK had already established a quick natural expansion, and had gained a significant economic advantage. Combine this with HuK's incredible macro, after MC set the final push for the game it was all over. With no more units and with his opponent having the superior army MC tapped out.
HuK became champion of MLG Orlando and became the first repeat champion of MLG ever since Starcraft 2 became a part of the pro circuit.
