SK Gaming are IEM VI New York champions
SK Gaming won the IEM 6 New York final 2:0 over WinFakt to take home $16,000.
SK Gaming have won the IEM VI Global Challenge New York and $16,000, beating
WinFakt Fi by two maps to none in the final. After WinFakt's Bo3 performance against Na`Vi in the semi-final of SEC some might have hoped for a closer series against the Swedes but that wasn't to be, with the favourites dominating the final without difficulty. Both teams who made the final have also qualified for the IEM VI World Championship
The first map was mirage and looked to be WinFakt's chance to get into the series, with their win over fnatic at e-Stars suggesting they had put in time to studying the map. This seemed to be the case early on as the Finns won a number of clutch round situations and got up 5:3 on their terrorist side. After that SK took over though and those clutch rounds were going to the Swedish side, who steamrolled to a 10:5 CT half. In the second half SK comfortably moved to a victory without much resistance from the Finns, taking only nine rounds to win the map.
On dust2 SK dominated as terrorists, putting up a huge 13 rounds, and WinFakt looked resigned to defeat and a healthy $8,000 second place prize. The map and series ended with a clean 3:0 sweep as CT to give the title to SK.
