IEM 6 Guangzhou: mouz walk through eFuture

By Duncan 'Thorin' Shields

Imagemouz found the first semi-final of IEM VI Guangzhou a walk in the park as they blew past underdogs eFuture with large CT side first half wins.

DE Mousesports won the first semi-final of the IEM VI Global Challenge Guangzhou in one of the most one-sided and mismatched Best-of-threes ever seen this late in an IEM Global Challenge, crushing CN eFuture two maps to none.

The Germans gorilla smashed the underdog Chinese team on both maps with dominating CT halves and cruised into the final. The tone was set early as eFuture only managed two terrorist rounds in the first half of tuscan, one of the most terrorist-biased maps in the game. For the entire match all of the Chinese players struggled to get kills, while pretty all of mouz raced up the scoreboard. roman in particular shined as he finished with only 11 against him and 46 in his favour. Statistics from the match can be viewed here.

Mouz await a battle against the winner of SE fnatic and FI WinFakt Fi, who they will play at 4:00am CET tomorrow. eFuture will face the loser of that second semi-final at the same time tomorrow.

DE Mousesports 2:0 CN eFuture
-16:4 tuscan (CT 13:2 T 3:2)
-16:3 inferno (CT 12:3 T 4:0)

The overwhelming difference in scoreline brings to mind three blowouts from the IEM IV season, such as SE MYM vs. PL Vitriolic.pl at IEM IV Dubai, SE fnatic vs. SE SK at IEM IV Dubai and SE fnatic vs. DK Roskilde Ravens at the IEM IV European Finals. The closest fit being the latter matchup, where the favourites for the tournament smashed the cinderella story team.

In the other cases it was the cinderellas who did the owning against one of the greatest lineups of all time and one of the all time great lineups, in their year of dominance, bashing their fellow countrymen, respectively.
