The Global StarCraft 2 Invitational will feature 24 players competing to win their regional bracket and qualify for the finals, which will be held at the MLG National Championship on November 18th.MLG has announced the Global StarCraft 2 Invitational which will see 24 players competing in regional brackets (North America, Korea and Europe) to qualify for the finals of the event, which will be held at the 2011 MLG National Championship in Providence, Rhode Island, on Friday November 18th. The finals are an entirely separate tournament from the MLG National Championship.
The tournament is intended as a bonus for Gold/Silver members, so they can view more HD content. Apparently a number of the matches from the tournament will be cast from replays. The event will be cast by Artosis and JP McDaniel. Many players, from around the world, were asked but some declined to compete.
In semi-related news the winner of BlizzCon 2011 will both receive an invitation to compete at the Global StarCraft 2 Invitational finals and a spot in the MLG National Championship. So there will be four players in total competing for the Global StarCraft 2 Invitational title: the European, Korean and North American champions, along with the BlizzCon champion.
