The Up and Down matches for GSL August have finished and the players heading up to Code S and back down to Code A are now known. Amongst those demoted back to Code A were two time GSL Code S champion Min Chul 'MC' Jang and GSL July Code S semi-finalist Hyun Wo 'Byun' Byun.

Group A went quickly enough as it only took seven matches to decide who went where. Groups B and C were another matter entirely as they took 15 and 13 matches respectively. Perhaps the most hard done by by the process was Check who had to play eight matches but still did not qualify for Code S.

Of the 15 players competing for Code S spots there were six Terrans, four Protosses and five Zergs. After the games had finished four Terrans had qualified and two Zergs, with all of the Protoss players failing to progress.
