ESL bans vedimak for 2 years

ImageHRG player vedimak has been banned for 2 years from all ESL competitions due to being found guilty of trying to bypass ESL Wire during the IEM 6 NY qualifiers.

MD HighRollersGaming player MD Evgeniy "vedimak" Grigorov has been banned from all ESL competitions for two years due to having been "found guilty of trying to bypass the ESL Wire system during the latest qualifiers for the Global Challenge New York."

The ESL post explains:

"The discovery was a result of new detection methods that were added to software recently. In addition he also used a fake profile on the ESL page."

The controversy began when vedimak played for MD Alliance the previous week against PL Frag eXecutors , in a game many expected to be a massively one-sided victory for the e-Stars champions from Poland. When Alliance beat the Poles by a relatively large margin of 16:8 on dust2 suspicions were raised and voiced by many that something was amiss. In the next round they were beaten by Moscow Five.

Having watched the demos people in particular pointed to vedimak as a suspicious player. Due to ESL's rules FX could not get the result overturned since they did not protest within 15 minutes of the end of the match. After he played with HRG in the second qualifier, losing to FX by a large margin along the way, accusations were once again levelled against the Moldovan after his team were able to defeat DE MyRevende.de. A video was produced of vedimak's performance with sound and a wallhack enabled, so viewers could make up their own mind.
