ImageRalf "Griff" Reichert gave his thoughts to fragster about CS:GO and a potential uniting of the 1.6 and Source scenes. The SK founder and ESL higher-up was one of the invited figures to playtest the game.

DE Ralf "Griff" Reichert, managing director of Turtle Entertainment GmbH, the company behind ESL, and founding member of SK Gaming, spoke to fragster in a German interview about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and its implications for both the different scenes and ESL. The old school German Quake player was amongst the figures invited to test CS:GO.

Speaking about Global Offensive:

"It has newer, nicer graphics, newer technologies, better spectator facilities ... all this is incredibly important, particularly for us as an organizer eSports. It will also be successful on the console, significantly increasing the potential audience again"

Thoughts on the as yet unfinished game after play-testing it:

"It's not a completely new game, it's very, created very close to the two previous titles. but it has left me with a very complete impression. It just felt very genuine and good, both in terms of graphics and the vote. In these details is so often the crux of the game provider."

On a potential uniting of the 1.6 and Source scenes:

"As an organizer eSports, it is absolutely in our interest to see the two communities together. Since we can contribute to a part and we will try"

Griff was initially best known as one of the founders and players for Schroet Kommando, which has since become SK Gaming, when it came into existence as a QuakeWorld TDM in the late 90s. His younger brother Kane famously finished runnerup at the True Gamers Invitational duel event, which in many ways was the most high level Quake duel event held to that point in time.

As the 2000s began Griff became better known for his involvement with running CPL Europe, a partnership which lasted a handful of years. In later days ESL has risen up to be one of the biggest tournament organisers in the world and Griff has focused on managerial positions within the company, leaving far behind any active role in SK.
