ImageSrs Quake star av3k speaks about his time as a quake prodigy, defeating toxjq thanks in part to a pizza box and the importance of a strong mindset.

The SK Gaming 1on1 feature turns its focus to QuakeLive for a three part interview with the Polish Quake star PL Maciej 'av3k' Krzykowski. The serious gaming player burst onto the international scene as a young teenage prodigy, defeating the then seemingly impossibly dominant SE toxjq and stable Italian IT Stermy to take titles from them in Quake 4. Victories at i30, ESWC 2007 and WSVG Louisville established him as one of the very best Q4 players.

In part one of this interview av3k addresses his interests outside of Quake, his history in Quake 4 battling legendary names and the mentality that allowed him to achieve so much at an early age.

What sport does av3k regularly train in? Does he see any similarities between Quake and his sport of choice? How good was av3k at Quake 3 before his Quake 4 success? How was he able to defeat monsters like toxjq at such a young age? How does belief in god tie into his theory on the importance of mindset? What is the story behind how Cooller and a pizza box helped him beat toxjq on phrantic?
