Spart1e is still very much attending this year's QuakeCon despite the collapse of his former home, Next Evolution.Sebastian 'Spart1e' Siira, along with Kevin 'Strenx' Baeza, were looking forward to QuakeCon 2011 which takes place this week. After leaving Fnatic due to lack of financial support, the duo quickly found the help they needed with Next Evolution, an up-and-coming organization that were set to send the two over to Dallas, Texas.
But news broke over the past couple of days that the Next Evolution investor had vanished, leaving the entire squad of players with both no support and no home. While some haven't found new shirts to wear, Strenx has been welcomed back into Fnatic but there was no sign of their other former star man, Spart1e.
Fortunately, the Swede has also found a new home in team WinFakt, who will be sending him to QuakeCon.
"I don't really wanna go into what really happend with Nevo. But I found a new team, WinFakt. Who are sending me to Quakecon," Spart1e told SK Gaming. "I have had problems with my connection last week, so couldn't put in any good duel practise. But I have been practising TDM with my Qcon team (Noctis, av3k, krysa). Think we are going to do really good. So I don't have any big expections on the duel. But playing in the TDM final is my goal at Quakecon."
Given the current state of the Quake Live scene following the game's dismissal from the upcoming IEM season, many players may not find it worth competing after QuakeCon with the limited number of events on the horizon. For Spart1e though, he's simply going to keep playing and see if more tournaments are announced before calling it quits.
"I will keep playing after Quakecon, just gonna take a big break," he said. "And hope that more Quake tournaments will turn up ;)"
Be sure to check back over the course of the week as SK Gaming will be providing coverage of this year's QuakeCon, which has $40,000 ready to be handed out over duel and TDM competitions.
