32 teams have now been whittled down to just 8, however only 4 teams can qualify for the main European qualifier of the Guangzhou Global Challenge.

After a long afternoon just eight teams remain in the first preliminary qualifier of the IEM Global Challenege Guangzhou event, only four teams however can qualify for the main European qualifier, set to take place on August 14th.

These matches will be played out in a best-of-three format and will kickoff at 17:00CET today. The winning teams will then proceed to the main European qualifier of the GC Guangzhou event in two weeks time where three slots for the main event are up for grabs.

The next European preliminary qualifier will take place next Sunday (August 7) and be formatted the same as today's tournament. The American qualifier will on the other hand take place on August 2. For Counter-Strike, only one American team can qualify for the Global Challenge Guangzhou and and as a result only one online qualifier will be hosted.
