Technorati interviews Day[9]
Sean "Day[9]" Plott talks Day[9] dailies, plans on pro-gaming, AHGL, and introducing new players to the game.
Sean "Day[9]" Plott is probably the most familiar American face for E-Sports, between his constant casting at major events like MLG and Dreamhack, and Day[9] dailies, as well as being a former pro Brood-War gamer.
Day[9] seems to be endlessly devoted the the growth of E-Sports and introducing players to the game, not just for the competitive scene, but also simply showing how enjoyable the game can be, even to people who have never picked it up before. In his interview, he mentions he started the Day[9] daily as a project to do in his spare time to satisfy his two primary urges, one as a spectator, watching high level games like you would your favorite sport, and the other to satisfy his needs as a player, and delve deep into the strategy of the players. When the Day[9] dailies were originally created there were no in-depth analytical looks into the strategy and game-play of top quality players, by players that understand all of the mechanics.
Sean also mentions how the Day[9] daily's led him into casting tournaments, and that exercises in college where he had to explain mathematical problems to someone completely unfamiliar in a set time period prepared him for casting. He explains that he really wants to re-arrange his personal schedule to be able to play more, and whether he gets to enter tournament play or not it would be great to play against a good player in a show match in a best of 5 series, and then analyze the games the following week in Day[9] dailies.
Day[9] is as always extremely devoted to introducing new players to the game, and the After Hours Gaming League is one of the ways that will help get the word out about E-Sports.
Sean says,

Sean says,
"But the goal was to present StarCraft 2 in a way as... as being a legitimate, fun activity that is performed by what a real gamer is, which is a smart, successful professional, instead of this completely farcical view that's portrayed in a lot of media. Which is this sort of sweaty man in a basement who's never talked to anyone ever, you know. It's a chance for people to see that there's a lot of fun to be had and a lot of fun team work and a lot of morale building that can happen in the game."
"And it's a chance to legitimize and to provide an entry point for a lot of people who are maybe unfamiliar with it, because there are so many amazing, amazing tournaments out there for the gaming crowd. Tournaments like NASL, or MLG or GSL."
