Lions & Excello withdraw from ICSC8, VP returns
Yet another two teams has pulled out of the Intel Challenge Cup 8, this time in the form of Lions swe and Excello. Virtus.Pro will however be making a return into Group A.
Lions swe has unexpectedly withdraw from the Intel Challenge Super Cup 8. The Swedes, who have recently come back from Dreamhack Summer 2011 failing to make it through to the playoff stage of the tournament, will not be able to attend the LAN finals and as a result have decided that continuing to participate in the tournament is not worth the hassle.
Following Lions in pulling out of the event is the Finland's
Excello . Reports of problems within the ranks of their roster have been confirmed and as a result the team, who were only picked up by the organisation one month ago, will no longer be participating in the tournament.
The former
USSR squad (who are now representing
Virtus.Pro ) will however be returning into Group A of the ICSC8. As the team consists of the almost all of same players as the old USSR suquad, the ICSC organisers have decided to place the team back in Group A rather than move them to Group B (where the old Virtus.Pro team was drawn).
These changes leave Group C with just two teams:
fnatic and
KerchNET , meaning that if there are no more additions to the lineup then both teams will be guaranteed a slot in the playoffs.
