DHS: SK edges out Na`Vi to reach final
SK Gaming outlasted Na`Vi in a three map semi-final series which saw the Swedes truly live up to the potential of their impressive on-paper lineup changes.
SK Gaming 's new lineup found itself facing the toughest of tests as they went up against
Natus Vincere , the best team in the world and the reigning Dreamhack champions, in their Dreamhack Summer semi-final. The Swedes took the first map and seemed, initially, like they might even close out the series in two but Na`Vi came roaring back on their best map, train.
Despite the Ukrainians taking a strong first half lead on the third map the Swedes were not to crumble as they pulled out the victory to move to the final and face
mTw .
Natus Vincere 3:16
SK Gaming (T 3:12 CT 0:4)
Natus Vincere 16:10
SK Gaming (CT 8:7 T 8:3)
Natus Vincere 13:16
SK Gaming (CT 10:5 T 3:11)
Na`Vi are known for dropping nuke and their run through this tournament suggests they should probably return to that tendancy as SK, on arguably their best map, put up a wall Na`Vi could not hope to penetrate.
Switching over to Na`Vi's best map SK got the moral victory in the first half by managing to win 7 as terrorists but any hopes of getting the series sown up quickly were dashed as Na`Vi went to work taking round after round as terrorist.
On the third, and final, map SK went down 5:10 as terrorists and map tendancies would tell us Na`Vi were in the clear to cruise into the final. History on the other hand had a different story to tell as Na`Vi found themselves facing another second half T side on inferno where they needed to execute and grind out at least six rounds. History repeated itself and the Ukrainians crumbled against SK's strong defense. Despite mounting a comeback towards the end, punctuated by a spectacular 1v3 win in B by ceh9, the Ukrainians eventually yielded to the undeniable force of SK.
